Russia: Six of the TMH companies announced 2023 production and sales for rolling stock and components.
1️⃣ The electric locomotive plant in Novocherkassk delivered 183 locomotives with 508 sections to customers. In addition to conventional locomotives, this includes special locomotives for use on industrial rail lines. According to the plant, sales have increased by more than 16% year-on-year to 2022, and Russian Railways reported earlier this year that it had received 167 electric locomotives from the plant in 2023.
2️⃣ The locomotive plant in Bryansk delivered 355 diesel locomotives, including 245 shunting and 94 mainline locomotives. The company reports that it delivered another 16 mainline locomotives as locomotive kits for further assembly. Sales are estimated at RUB 60 bln ($647 mln). Russian Railways received 65 2TE25KM mainline diesel locomotives, 12 recently approved for production and operation 3TE28 mainline locomotives, and 144 TEM18DM shunting locomotives, the plant said.
3️⃣ The car building plant in Tver has reportedly fulfilled its 2023 production plan, delivering 1,122 cars to customers. In addition to locomotive-hauled coaches, this includes cars for the Ivolga EMUs. According to the company, production in 2023 was 20% higher than in 2022. This year, the plant also plans to increase production of electric trains and double-decker coaches.
4️⃣ The metro train plant in Mytishchi announced that by the end of 2023 it had produced 520 metro cars of various models, including 360 cars for the Moscow-2020 trains (+37% compared to 2022). The plant also produced 128 Baltiets cars for St. Petersburg, assembled in cooperation with a local TMH plant, and built the last 15 cars for the Baku metro.
5️⃣ The steelworks in Bezhitsa cast 45,000 t of automatic couplings, clamps, bolsters, and solebars for rolling stock in 2023. With an overall annual growth of 7.6% compared to 2022, RIA Strela quotes the works’ press office as saying that clamps set a record as their production increased by 15.5%. The production plan for 2024 has been increased to 47,000 t.
6️⃣ The transport battery plant in Saratov increased its output by 20% to 185,000 batteries and accumulators. Its products are supplied mainly to TMH companies. They are used in electric locomotives built in Novocherkassk, diesel locomotives made in Bryansk, passenger cars and coaches manufactured in Tver, and metro trains produced in Mytishchi. Much of the Saratov plant’s output is used by repair companies. The plant is now awaiting the completion of bankruptcy administration to proceed with other standard procedures.
As TMH earlier reported, it expects the group’s consolidated revenues to grow by 30% to more than RUB 400 bln ($4.3 bln) in 2023.
