Russia: This is the fourth modification of the Ivolga EMUs by TMH.
The main difference from its predecessors is the three-door body of the intermediate cars, which allows passengers to take and leave the train faster and with more comfort. Its exterior and interior have also been improved.
The train is certified according to TR EAEU 001/2011 until the end of November 2028. The number of pre-serial trains is not yet known. Before certification, the trains were tested in three Russian locations: in the city of Tver, at the North Caucasus Railway test site, and at the VNIIZhT railway research institute’s test loop.
According to Maxim Liksutov, Moscow’s deputy mayor for transport, the first Ivolga 4.0 EMUs will start passenger service on the Moscow Central Diameters urban rail system next year. Under a contract with the Moscow Metro, TMH will deliver 35 eleven-car EGE2Tv trains with two or three doors. Particularly, 18 three-door Ivolga 4.0 EMUs will be delivered by September 2025. The contract includes price indexation. According to the latest supplementary agreement, the prices for different types of cars range from RUB 111.3 mln to 187.9 mln ($1.2–2 mln), including VAT, in Q3 2023. These prices are 15% higher than the original ones.
By the end of 2025, Moscow plans to purchase 95 Ivolga trains for the Moscow Central Diameters 3 and 4.
