Brief overview of key events and news in the rail rolling stock markets.
The Centre for EU Transport Projects has approved PLN 780 mln (€179.5 mln) to co-finance the purchase of 98 EMUs for the Polish passenger operator Polregio. The application for co-financing was submitted in July last year, but for a larger amount of over PLN 3 bln (€690.2 mln). The allocated funds cover 26% of the cost of rolling stock, while the operator is negotiating with EU bodies to obtain 84% of the cost.

Skoda Group and Pesa have bid for the supply and 15-year maintenance of 35 single-deck EMUs to Bulgaria. Skoda Group is reportedly prepared to fulfil the contract for BGN 618 mln (€315.9 mln), while Pesa valued the contract at a higher amount of BGN 822.5 mln (€420.5 mln).
Polish operator PKP Intercity has again cancelled the tender for the supply of 38 push-pull double-deck coaches and 45 multi-system electric locomotives. As was the case last time, only one bidder, the Pesa-Newag consortium, submitted its offer. According to the PKP Intercity press office, the tender was cancelled because the consortium refused to extend the validity of its offer.

Lisbon Metro has received bids from CRRC and Stadler for the supply of up to 36 three-car trains. CRRC’s bid is reportedly 14.2% lower than Stadler’s, €115 mln vs. €134 mln, with an initial price of €138 mln.
The Saratov Duma has approved the allocation of RUB 2.9 bln (€28.9 mln) from the regional budget for the purchase of 30 trams. The rolling stock for lines 6, 8 and 9 is expected by the end of the year.
Bozankaya signed a contract for the supply of 18 low-floor trams to the city of Iași worth RON 168 mln (€33.7 mln). A corresponding tender with an initial price of RON 177 mln (€35.5 mln) was announced last year. The first tram is expected to be delivered in 15 months.

The Ust-Katav Car-building Plant (UKCP) has delivered all 46 trams to Lipetsk, Russia. The deliveries were made under the contract signed with Movista Regions in June 2023. The first two71-628-02 single-car low-floor trams arrived in the city in July 2023.
