Russia: According to the city’s authorities, the first pair of the single-car low-floor 71-628 trams from the Ust-Katav Car-building Plant (UKCP) will soon be delivered.

In November 2023, the electric urban transport body of Tomsk, signed a five-year lease contract with the State Transport Leasing Company (GTLC) for five trams worth RUB 485.7 mln ($5.2 mln). Further trams will be delivered by the end of July to serve the 12.4 km Line 1.

The tram builder stresses that the new model, the 71-628, features an updated interior with corrosion-resistant side panels as well as an on-demand door opening and climate control.

At a meeting in March, Petr Maksimov, head of the city’s municipal services department, announced that the average age of the trams was 23 years, with 37 vehicles in working order.
