USA: The state-owned passenger operator announced in February that it would begin procuring a standardised single-deck long-distance fleet. The RFP has now been issued formally, with a supplier to be selected by the end of 2027.
Brazil: In late March, two five-car driverless trains entered service on the first section of Line 17 in São Paulo.
Georgia: Prime minister Irakli Kobakhidze presented the plans at a government session on 8 April. According to him, Georgian Railway intends to acquire 50 locomotives, 1,500 wagons and 10 passenger trains.
Hungary: The exterior and interior renderings of the IC+NEO seating coaches were presented at the Hungarian Railways 360° conference held in Budapest.
France: A four-car Class B 82500 dual-mode electro-diesel multiple unit began carrying passengers on the Meaux–La Ferté-Milon branch of Transilien Line P on April 8.
Japan: Passenger operator JR East is developing an intelligent pantograph and overhead contact system monitoring solution in partnership with digital systems specialist CalTa.
Sweden: Heavy-duty wagon builder Kiruna Wagon has signed a contract with local transport operator Kraftdragarna to supply a single Schnabel wagon.
Russia: Both parties made an official announcement of the deal, following a February preliminary agreement on the order valued at more than RUB 400 bln (USD 5.2 bln).
