Russia: Evgeny Shevtsov, RZD Deputy Managing Director and Head of the Central Infrastructure Directorate, told this to Gudok in his last interview.
“All kinds of repair work are planned to improve 5,200 km of track. We are going to purchase 105 track machines and 536 special-purpose cars”, he said. The models of the rolling stock to be purchased are not disclosed.
The announced volume of purchases is slightly higher than last year. According to Shevtsov, RZD bought then 100 track machines and 268 special-purpose cars.
The purchases are part of the government-approved programme to gradually bring the railway infrastructure up to regulatory standards by 2035. This will be achieved through significant investment in new machines for track overhaul and maintenance, snow removal, and maintenance of railway rights-of-way, and in special-purpose cars.
