Russia: The plans were announced by Ivan Kolesnikov, Deputy Managing Director of Russian Railways, at the final meeting of the board of the national operator.

According to the official statement, the company will purchase as much rolling stock as manufacturers can offer.

This year, RZD will buy 550 long-distance passenger coaches and 235 suburban cars from TMH. The plant in Tver builds locomotive-hauled coaches, and the plant in Demikhovo manufactures EMU cars.

The national operator will also purchase 103 cars for the ES104 Finist trains from Ural Locomotives, part of Sinara–Transport Machines. RZD does not disclose whether they will be delivered under new contracts or whether they are part of the contract signed in 2023 for 10 more five-car Finists to be delivered in the first half of the year.

With regard to 2023, Russian Railways states that more than 800 passenger coaches have been purchased, without providing any information on the structure of the order. Last year, the operator officially announced that it was expecting deliveries of 550 coaches, 220 cars for the EP2Ds and EP3Ds EMUs, and 60 cars for the ES104 EMUs. RZD also signed a contract for 76 cars for the 76 EP2DMs from TMH.
