Russia: The issue includes materials on metro cars produced by Transmashholding (TMH) for the capital of Uzbekistan, the development of the container flatcar portfolio, and the operation of its diesel engineering center.

Top 4 facts from the magazine:

1. The experience of delivering 60 metro cars (15 trains) to the Uzbekistan’s capital, Tashkent, in 2019-2021 became the basis for a long-term comprehensive memorandum signed by TMH and the Tashkent Metro. The document covers 10 years, from 2022 to 2032, and involves interaction in terms of infrastructure developing, rolling stock, passenger traffic and other areas.

2. The Transmash plant (a part of TMH) is capable of producing up to 200 flatcars per month. The producer has developed 13-6726 80-foot container flatcars, their serial production is planned to begin in 2022. Production of 13-6987 piggyback platforms has also been serialized. In 2021, the testing of the new 13-6719 flatcar with an increased carrying capacity of up to 72 tons began. Transmash plans to produce 1,500 flatcars in 2022.

3. The minimum curves radius for the new TEM23 shunting diesel locomotive is 40 m. The premiere of TEM23 took place in the summer of 2021 as part of the PRO//Movement.Expo. The new diesel locomotive is to replace another flagship TMH shunting locomotive, the TEM18DM.

4. TMH is currently developing two new diesel generators, 18-9DGM and 16LDG220, for locomotive traction. The main testing cycle for the power units is planned to be completed in 2022, and diesel locomotives with new engines should be manufactured by the Bryansk Machine-Building Plant (BMZ, a part of TMH) by 2023. TMH has also developed the 9GMG LNG engine-generator for another new shunting locomotive called TEM29. It has passed the entire testing cycle and its acceptance is expected soon.
