Hungary: The investment amounts to €15.2 mln, of which €3 mln is support by the Hungarian government.
As part of the project to be implemented at the Matranovak plant, a new logistics hall is constructed and 150 new jobs are added (now, the plant employs 720).
The plant specialises in the production of bogie frames for EMUs, locomotives, passenger coaches and metro trains. According to Gaspar Balazs, Alstom’s Managing Director in Hungary, the annual capacity of the Matranovak plant will increase from 1,800 to 2,500 bogie frames by 2025, meaning that 35% of Alstom’s rolling stock will be fitted with its own components.
The project to increase production capacity is part of an even larger programme for the Matranovak plant to be completed by 2030. It includes the purchase of edge-bending machines, upgrading of plasma cutting equipment, expansion of 3D printing capacity, and the introduction of a new welding robot.
