France: Two seven-car trams have started operation on Line 1, spanning 18.4 km.
Initially set for last autumn, the launch was delayed due to power supply issues, as reported by Pascal Bolo, President of the French city’s operator Semitan.
The 46 m long Citadis X05 tram can accommodate 300 passengers and reach speeds of 70 km/h. First unveiled in February 2023, the tram features with automated doors that open when passengers approach. The vehicles are also said to have electric motors that reduce energy consumption by 13% compared to Alstom’s previous Citadis vehicles.
Alstom is to supply in total 61 trams, with the launch of the last one expected in 2027. The vehicles worth €280 mln were ordered in 2020–2021.
