Argentina: Early in December the province of Jujuy’s governor Gerardo Morales took part in a test trip on a 20-km section of a tourist narrow-gauge Volcán-Tilcara line.
The rolling stock will now undergo operational trials, with full-scale commercial operation, with trains running every 45 minutes, scheduled to begin in March 2024. That’s eight years later than originally planned due to financial problems, miscalculations, and other factors.

Under the contract concluded in 2022, CRRC produced the first two-car trains in June and delivered them to the country in September. The scope of the delivery remains undisclosed. There are two 352 kWh lithium iron phosphate batteries installed on the train’s roof. The car, with floor-to-ceiling windows, can accommodate 72 passengers, and the driver’s cabs are located on either side of the train.
