Saudi Arabia: Under a €500 mln contract with the Royal Commission for AlUla, the manufacturer is expected to construct this turnkey tram system, deliver 20 three-car Citadis B battery-powered trams, provide full maintenance for 10 years, and build a depot.

The 22.4 km line of 17 stations will pass through UNESCO World Heritage sites near the city of AlUla. The trams will reportedly be equipped with the Mitrac B battery traction system, which will be recharged at ground stations. The company stresses that it will use the experience gained during the construction of a line with battery trams launched in Dubai in 2014.

The catenary-free project, which involves nine Alstom production facilities in France, provides for building cars adapted to the extreme climatic conditions of the region.
