Ukraine: According to the operator, 427 container flatcars, 50 dump cars, 50 1,520 mm grain hoppers, and one 1,435 mm grain hopper were built at its Panyutino, Darnitsa, and Stryi car repair plants.

In previous years, the output of the plants was lower: 177 freight cars in 2022 and only 11 in 2021. This year, the plan is to build 120 hoppers for the 1,520 mm gauge.

From February 2022 to November 2023, the fleet of freight cars of the Ukrainian Railways was reduced from 128,000 to 108,000 units. At the end of last year, the Federation of Transport Employers of Ukraine asked the Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration Oleksandr Kubrakov to cancel an order limiting the service life of cars, which was adopted in 2022. The Federation estimates that the order could lead to the write-off of some 21,000 cars by 2028, while the country is unable to produce them.
