USA: The Nederlands-based company, in collaboration with Wabtec, plans to release the telematics solution in the first quarter of 2024.

The system under consideration is designed for the USA and other countries where heavy trains operate.

The system, which consists of sensors, wireless communications, and a cloud platform for data analysis, is expected to be installed on new and existing rolling stock and tank containers. Customers will reportedly be able to track a car’s location and key parameters online. These include the position of handbrakes, doors, and hatches, whether a car or tank is empty or loaded, and the temperature and pressure inside the tank.

In Europe, IMT is developing a telematics system for freight cars with Hitachi Rail. Meanwhile, Wabtec has already launched its platform, and its competitor Knorr-Bremse is implementing telematics solutions with Nexxiot sensors.
