Germany: Together with its cooperation partner NVIDIA, DSD presented a photo-realistic digital twin of a railway line for fully automation operation.

The first digitised line is a test track for the Hamburg S-Bahn, where Siemens Mobility and Deutsche Bahn launched four GoA2 trains by Bombardier Transportation in September 2022. The high-resolution digital twin of the line is a perfect copy of the original line and was created using data collected by the Sensors4Rail project.

The digital twin is supposed to simulate incidents in a realistic 1:1 reproduction of the track environment. For example, flooding or a tree, palette or a light aircraft falling on a section of track. The data collected will help train an AI that will be used for unmanned operations.
