Czechia: The eight-coach Viaggio Comfort train has been recently showcased at the main railway station in Prague.
The rolling stock ought to enter service on the Prague–Bohumín route by late April or in May. The train will temporarily operate without a dining coach, and its speed will be limited to 200 km/h. This year the state operator Czech Railways (ČD) is going to receive another eight ComfortJet trains, each consisting of eight coaches.
According to the contract, signed in 2021, the Siemens Mobility–Skoda Group consortium is delivering to the ČD state operator a total of 180 Viaggio Comfort coaches. They will be formed into 20 nine-coach trainsets, each having 99 first-class and 456 second-class seats. These are push-pull trains with a driving trailer on the one side, and a Vectron MS multi-system electric locomotive, designed for speeds up to 230 km/h, on the opposite side. The train bodies are manufactured by Siemens Mobility at the production sites in Vienna and Munich, while the final assembly is performed by Skoda Group at their plant in Ostrava.
