China: The first dual-fuel 12-cylinder 12V240H-DFA engine was demonstrated at the Dalian plant.
The engine is said to generate up to 208 kW of power from a single cylinder, with 85% of the power supplied by ammonia. The unit can reduce carbon emissions by 80% and can operate in diesel-only mode.
The engine uses multi-point low pressure ammonia injection and high pressure diesel injection technologies. It features a variable geometry turbocharger to optimise fuel consumption.

It is now planned to use the engine in the maritime transport sector. Its pilot operation will begin in 2024 on a tugboat (by order of the container operator COSCO). However, it is based on the 12V240H engine installed in the 2,700 kW FXN3B shunting locomotive that CRRC unveiled in 2018.
