Germany: While the newly established Smart Train Lease will initially offer services to customers in Germany, it will expand its geographical reach across Europe in the future.
According to Siemens Mobility, Smart Train Lease will offer short or medium-term leases, although other leasing companies operate with lease terms from 12 years. The company will also offer various maintenance options with the lease.
The first Mireo Smart was unveiled in November 2023. The train will be available in three traction configurations: catenary, catenary and batteries, and hydrogen fuel cells. The company claims that it will take no more than 18 months from contract signing to delivery and that the train will come at an attractive price and have low maintenance costs.
