Ghana: The two-car Regio160 train was delivered from the site in Bydgoszcz, Poland, to one of the largest Ghanaian ports, Tema, in just 1.5 months.
The customer has the option to purchase 10 more trains, while the second train is expected to be delivered soon.
After successful route testing, the rolling stock will run 6 round trips daily on a 96.7 km section of the 1,435 mm Tema–Mpakadan Railway Line, which was built in 2019.

This is Pesa’s first contract with an African country. According to its CEO Krzysztof Zdziarski, Pesa will expand its activities to other continents, as well as countries in Asia and the Middle East, where there is interest in its hydrogen locomotives.
The project was financed with assistance of V.A.O.B., a group that works with African governments to develop, structure and finance infrastructure projects. The group gives special attention to the development and expansion of Ghana’s railway network.
