Austria: The first train from Siemens Mobility has been put in operation by the national operator OBB on the Vienna–Feldkirch route.

The trainset of a Vectron electric locomotive and nine Viaggio coaches has a maximum speed of 230 km/h. The same new-generation coaches have been used in Nightjet trains since December 2023. The initial OBB’s order was eight Siemens Mobility trains for the Railjet service, but recently the Austrian operator has exercised an option for an additional 19 worth €405 mln. The extra order is scheduled to be delivered in 2028.

According to the manufacturer, the train has two first-class coaches, six economy-class coaches, and a dining coach and can accommodate up to 532 passengers. It features high-tech bogies 30% lighter than the previous design, self-diagnosis sensors, windows with improved mobile phone reception, and more spaces for storing bicycles, skis, and baby strollers.
