Poland: The local manufacturer won a tender announced in autumn 2022.

The bidders competed for the right to supply passenger coaches to the state-owned operator PKP Intercity. In addition to the fixed part for 300 coaches, worth PLN 4.2 bln (€972.3 mln), there is an option for 150 coaches worth PLN 2.2 bln (€509.3 mln). The rival bidder, Newag, another Polish company, offered 22% more.

The winning bidder is expected to deliver several types of coaches between 2025 and 2028: 120 second-class coaches with open seating arrangement, 78 second-class sitting coaches with compartments, 38 first-class coaches with open seating arrangement, 38 dining cars and 26 sleeping cars.

The rolling stock is designed to operate at speeds of up to 200 km/h both domestically and on international routes to Czechia, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, and Lithuania. The trains are expected to have a service life of 48 years.
