Poland: Warsaw’s tram operator Tramwaje Warszawskie said that the last three-car vehicle finished its trial run.

Currently, 85 bi-directional and 18 uni-directional five-car as well as 20 uni-directional three-car trams are operating in Warsaw. Warsolino’s main feature is its ability to run 120 m in autonomous mode thanks to supercapacitors by Polish MEDCOM.

The €430 mln contract to supply 123 trams was signed in 2019. The first vehicle was put into operation in December 2021, with deliveries completed in October 2023. The Warsolino was exhibited at InnoTrans in Berlin.

Warsaw’s fleet will now reportedly consist of 434 low-floor and 165 high-floor trams. In the near future, a tender is to be announced to supply 20 low-floor trams with an option for 140 cars.
