China: A prototype of the two-car Super-autonomous Rail Rapid Transit was shown at the China International Rail Transit & Equipment Manufacturing Industry Exposition.
It is actually a vehicle on wheels that travels in a dedicated, virtually marked zone similar to a tram track. The vehicle is reportedly equipped with an automatic driving system synchronised with the BeiDou satellite navigation system.

Powered by lithium-ion batteries with a recharge time of 10 m, the vehicle has a range of 25 km, which can be increased to 200 km if hydrogen fuel cells are used. The “tram” can carry up to 176 passengers at a speed of up to 70 km/h and can pass 15 m curves.
A first-generation three-car ART “tram” with a range of 245 km is now being tested in Malaysia (where CRRC has a firm order for 38 vehicles) and Australia.
