Mexico: The rolling stock was revealed at the Chinese manufacturer’s plant in Nanjing.

A fleet of 13 six-car Moderna trains will run on Lines 4 and 6 of the Metrorrey, scheduled for launch by the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The trains will have a top speed of 80 km/h with an acceleration of 1.1 m/s2. The head car was made public in October.

Last October, a consortium of CRRC and Mota-Engil was awarded a $1.4 bln contract for the construction of three metro lines and provision of 132 train cars of two types to operate on these lines.

This is not CRRC’s first experience with monorail orders for Mexico. In 2021, the company supplied 26 two-car trains to Monterrey. These now operate on the lines, and CRRC is fulfilling another contract for the supply of rubber-tyred trains metro trains for Mexico City as well as the establishment of an assembly plant in Queretaro.
