Belarus, Russia: This year, the Belarusian manufacturer plans to unveil the first of 26 such trams, the T856.
The three-car low-floor trams will be supplied under a major concession agreement with the city.
According to the manufacturer, the T856 is being developed on the basis of the single-car T811, of which 14 have already been delivered to Nizhny Novgorod. The three-car tram will have a length of 27.5 m and a passenger capacity of 287, of which 55 will be seated. The tram can be equipped with rechargeable batteries to allow autonomous operation for up to 5 km.
It should be noted that BKM Holding is delaying the delivery of its vehicles to the city. By the end of 2023, the company produced 38 trams and 11 sets of tram bogies with electrical equipment. Several contracts have been signed with Russian cities for 2024: trams for Nizhny Novgorod and Krasnodar, bodies for Ufa and Samara, and tram kits for Novosibirsk for further assembly.
