Uruguay: Last Tuesday, the first out of seven supplied by Stadler EURO4001 diesel locomotives hauled a train of 25 cars with pulp on the Ferrocarril Central line.
The 273 km line with a speed limit of 80 km/h connects the UPM Paso de los Toros mill and the port of Montevideo.
The six-axle EURO4001 diesel locomotive is fitted with a 2.8MW engine, which meets Stage V emissions standards. The starting tractive effort is 500 kN and continuous tractive effort is 430 kN. The $2 bln line’s reconstruction was launched in 2019, with the locomotives ordered in 2020.
