Australia: A batch of six six-axle GT46C-ACe Gen II diesel locomotives has arrived at the Port of Newcastle from the US plant in Muncie.

The heavy-haul locomotives, designed for Australia, are fitted with a 3.3 MW 16-cylinder engine that meets Tier 3 emission standards. Shortly, the locomotives will be delivered to the customer, the Australian logistics provider, Qube, for further freight transportation services on the Melbourne and Sydney corridor.

The contract to supply 12 such diesel locomotives was signed in late 2022. Initially, the deliveries were to be completed by the end of 2023. Qube previously acquired 20 C44aci diesel locomotives from the Australian manufacturer UGL for use on the same route. The last locomotive under the contract was launched last year.
