Russia: In his interview with the local newspaper, Valery Savchenkov, General Director of Lyudinovo Diesel Locomotive Plant (part of Sinara–Transport Machines, STM), said that production in 2023 had grown by 16% compared to 2022.
According to the Russian state statistics agency, last year STM accounted for 16.7% of all shunting locomotives produced in the country.
Savchenkov noted that the plant had built 26 TEM9 and 22 TEM14 diesel locomotives. Several TEM9 were delivered to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and in October the manufacturer started deliveries of the TEM14s to the Russian coal company SUEK. In addition to locomotives, the Lyudinovo plant produced 371 bogies for other STM companies in 2023, “more than in the previous year”, according to Savchenkov. The plant has also started assembly of the first 2TE35A mainline diesel locomotive, and its head says that the locomotive will be sent for certification in the summer.
