Kazakhstan: By the end of 2023, Kazakhstan’s national operator had received 112 locomotives from various manufacturers, 102 passenger cars from the ZIKSTO, and 242 gondola cars (mostly from its subsidiary, Kazakhstan Car-Building Company), according to its official reports.
Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) has announced its plans. In the long term, the operator will purchase more than 550 locomotives:
– 100 shunting and 100 mainline locomotives from CRRC,
– 130 KZ8A freight and 63 KZ4AT passenger electric locomotives from Alstom,
– 75 TE33AS freight, 37 TEP33A passenger, and 18 TEM11A shunting diesel locomotives by Wabtec,
– 36 2TE25KM freight diesel locomotives by the Bryansk Engineering Plant in Russia.
Also, KTZ’s plans include the purchase of 3,000 freight cars for grain, coal, construction materials, etc. by 2025, and 537 Stadler passenger coaches by 2030.
