Russia: Such data was provided by Gazprombank Leasing CEO Maksim Kalinkin. In the beginning of the year the company was procuring container flatcars with the price of 2.9 mln RUR per each ($40 tsd USD), but now contracts are signed with the price of at least 3.6 mln RUR ($49 tsd USD).

The car-building plants have been having a backlog for more than six months in advance, Kalinkin says in his article in the Kommersant newspaper. He dedicates such dynamics to the factors of transit container volume increase across the Russian railway network (according to Russian Railways, within January-October 2021 there was a growth by 1.4 times over the same period in 2020). Also, rolling stock sales costs increase took place due to significant metal price growth.

Earlier this year, in February, Gazprombank Leasing and the Ural Logistics company have announced the contract worth 1.7 bln RUR ($23 mln USD), which includes supply of container flatcars that will be produced by Kanash Railway Car Building Plant (KAVAZ, formerly Wagon JSC, subsidiary of the Concern Tractor Plants). According to Maksim Kalinkin, in 9M2021 the volume of the Gazprombank Leasing’ new railway business has increased by 2.9 times.

It is worth noting that over the past week two contracts for fitting flatcars were published. Thus, VTB Leasing will provide Irtysh Capital with more than 1,600 of 80-ft flatcars for more than 4 bln RUR excl. VAT ($55 mln USD). More than a thousand cars have already been delivered to the customer, the rest Irtysh Capital will receive by the end of 2021. The rolling stock will be produced at Russian factories, VTB Leasing reported.

Also VTG has ordered 40-ft flatcars of 13-9744-06 model from Transmash (a member entity of Transmashholding). The expected date of completion for the delivery is early 2022.
