Kazakhstan: This was announced to LS Aqparat by the local administration of the Aktobe region. According to the agency, the decision was taken in 2023 due to the current global geopolitical environment.

Plans by Aktobestil to build a plant in the region and start production in 2025 were announced at the end of 2022. The $278.6 mln investment was expected to create 582 jobs and ensure the production of 330,000 passenger and freight car wheels per year.

Prommashkomplekt remains the only company producing train wheels in the country, with an annual output of 300,000 wheels. According to the Russian Union of Industries of Railway Equipment, 1.5 mln wheels were supplied to the Russian market, the largest 1,520 mm gauge market, which is 6% less than in 2022, and 187,200 wheels were imported, also 4% less.
