Azerbaijan: The train was presented at a station in Baku.
The national operator ADY designated it as DŞ1. Each 107 m long train consists of five cars and a traction module. So far, three DŞ1 have been supplied, with one more due by late 2023.
The DMU has 270 first- and second-class seats, a toilet, and a bar. With a maximum speed of 160 km/h, its operational speed will be limited to 140 km/h. The trains are fitted with the Block-5 safety system, which maintains the distance to the train ahead with the same system and adjusts the speed in case of a threat to traffic safety.
The trains are scheduled to enter service in 2024, following a trial period on the ADY infrastructure. Under a 2019 contract worth €115 mln, Stadler is to supply four diesel trains and six electric trains, the latter planned for delivery in 2024. Last year saw the train production relocated from Belarus to Poland.
