Ukraine: Krukiv Railway Car Building Works (KRCBW) has completed the refurbishment of the second train built for the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship.

Both trains were overhauled in the same plant, but only the first one was returned into service on the Kiyv–Lviv line, while the second, a five-car trainset will carry passengers between Ternopil and Chernihiv. The maximum speed of the second train is 160 km/h.

The company renewed the livery of the coaches and repaired and replaced key units and parts. The second train was due to return to service as early as 2021 but is yet to be launched this year. The first refurbished train entered service in 2018.

KRCBW is currently building 66 passenger coaches under two contracts with the Ukrzaliznytsia national railway operator and claims that the localisation level of the new coaches will exceed 80%. The operator has recently made an advance payment of UAH 260 mln ($6.2 mln).
