Italy: The six-car Inneo metro train was supplied to the Italian operator EAV.
In 2020, the contract was signed for the delivery of four trains with an option for six more exercised this year. The total value of the order, including a three-year maintenance, is €100 mln, with €60 mln funded by the state under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan of Italy.
The new train has the same technical characteristics as the rolling stock the customer ordered before. Being 107.7 m long, it accommodates 918 passengers and reaches a maximum speed of 90 km/h. The vehicle is fitted with inter-car gangways and spaces for wheelchairs.
Previously, CAF faced problems with putting into operation the Inneo trains supplied under the 2017 contract for 24 vehicles. The first vehicle was launched last October but pulled out of service just in a month. The reason was malfunctioning software, which disabled an air compressor. The problem was later resolved.
