Russia: The national railway operator filed an application to the Commercial Court of Moscow. The session is scheduled for 22 May.

On 21 February 2023, the Commercial Court of Moscow declared a decision of Siemens Mobility to unilaterally terminate the contract with Russian Railways (RZD) invalid. Under the €1.1 bln contract signed in 2019, the German manufacturer was to supply and maintain 13 high-speed ten-car Sapsan trains (Velaro Rus or EVS1 model). On 25 April, the Ninth Commercial Court of Appeals upheld the decision.

Russian Railways had been delivered four of these trains before May 2022 when Siemens announced that it would quit the Russian market due to the conflict in Ukraine and sanctions pressure. The German manufacturer decided to stop servicing Sapsan trains, too. In February 2023, the Commercial Court of Moscow ruled to charge Siemens €200,000 daily for the failure of the contract. The manufacturer filed an appeal.
