Czech Republic: Railvolution, the Czech magazine, says insolvency proceedings are open with all four companies of the group – WALBO Railway, WALBO Engineering, WALBO Wagons and WALBO Automation.

The group started in 2016 with WALBO Engineering, founded thanks to some experts from another bankrupt enterprise, the car-building plant Legios from Louny, established in 1874 and privatised in the 1990s.

First, WALBO Railway focused on the production of axles and wheel sets, then the year 2020 saw the creation of WALBO WAGONS to develop and manufacture cars and bogies. Its prototypes of an 80 ft four-axle and 90 ft articulated six-axle flat cars were presented at InnoTrans 2022.

According to Railvolution, WALBO Group obtained some orders for flat cars. The Italian Ambrogio Intermodal made an advance payment for the supply of 50 six-axle flat cars. The manufacturer had long been looking for a site to produce them, had faced problems, and now is in arrears with payments to its former employees. Ambrogio’s order was fulfilled by another Czech manufacturer, NYMWAG.
