China: The supplier of grinding wheels Jumbo Abrasives has posted a video in its social media showing the vehicle in operation on the country’s railways.

The CMC-20 has been designed to grind rails and turnout switches. Its 20 grinding wheels have a rotational speed of 6,000 rpm. The grinding head angle range can be adjusted up to 75° on the gauge side and up to 45° on the field side.

The surface roughness of the steel rail after grinding is said to be less than five μm. The grind speed varies from 2 to 16 km/h, with a self-propelled speed of 70 km/h.
