India: TVEMA, Russia, in consortium with Indian partner ADJ Engineering, has secured a major tender from national operator Indian Railways. The Economic Times quoted ADJ Engineering Project Director Ravi Raj as confirming the award.

The contract covers supply of 18 self-propelled ultrasonic rail testing vehicles, 216 track inspection trolleys, and two eddy current inspection systems. The winner will also operate and maintain the equipment for seven years.

The Russian-Indian bid of INR 11 bln ($117.9 mln) undercut competition by 35%, according to the Economic Times. Equipment will be produced to Make in India localisation requirements. “We must achieve 51% local content,” said Ravi Raj, who highlighted planned technology transfer from Russia.

TVEMA has long been a leader in exporting Russian high-tech rail diagnostics solutions, supplying systems across Europe and Asia. The company has worked the Indian market for years through its partnership with ADJ Engineering, including previous deliveries to Indian Railways and other operators — for instance, in spring 2024 the consortium secured a tender for onboard diagnostic systems for Mumbai Metro.
