Russia: ROLLINGSTOCK received the news from the Tikhoretsk Machine Construction Plant (TMCP) itself. The railcars will be supplied for the high-speed railway between Moscow and St Petersburg, which is due to open in April 2028.
A four-axle railcar with a length over coupler fulling faces of 23.1 m will be equipped with two diesel generators of 400 kW and 200 kW, enabling it to travel at a design speed of 120 km/h. The vehicle will be fitted with a cradle, a loading crane, a cable positioning control equipment. In the crew section, there will be instrumentation and diagnostic systems to assess the condition of the catenary.
TMCP is one of Russia’s largest track machine producers. According to the company, in 2024, it generated revenues of RUB 4 bln ($41.2 mln) including VAT, and produced 70 vehicles, which is a typical utilisation in recent years. Half of the machines (35) were delivered to Russian Railways, and the remainder to other customers, including one vehicle for Kyrgyzstan.
The company is developing intensively. Last year, for example, a low-interest loan of RUB 100 mln ($1 mln) was approved from the Industry Development Foundation of the Krasnodar region. The money will be used to purchase two heavy-duty machining centres.
