The new rolling stock, ordered by CHN Energy, China, has entered service on the Shuozhou–Huanghua line of 489 km which is run by the mining and energy company to transport coal.

The train is reported to employ over ten intelligent technologies for rail flaw detection, track and catenary inspection. Besides, the train is able to make 3D scanning of the railway track and surrounding areas and also produce high-definition images to detect flaws in sleepers and rail fasteners.

A first-generation train of the type has been in operation on the line since 2014. Last year, as noted, it covered 41,400 km. The rolling stock is stated to save about CNY 30.8 mln ($4.3 mln) per year by reducing the costs for railway roadbed inspection.
