Russia: The news was announced by Evgeny Popov, PTK Group’s First Deputy General Director, in the course of an operational meeting of the Central Infrastructure Directorate of Russian Railways.

The two-car RSM-2000 rail welding machine and the MS-700 clipping machine will form the KSP rail replacement train. “The RSM-2000 is now viewed as the main solution for rail welding on the high-speed railway between Moscow and St. Petersburg, both during construction and after the railway’s commissioning”, Yuri Lysy, PTK Group’s Director for Innovations, said earlier.

One of the advantages of the RSM-2000 machine is that rail welding can be performed on board the trainset, which makes the process protected from precipitation until unloading of the welded rails. This allows for working at any time of the day and in any weather, with the adjacent track remaining open for operation. In addition, a new welding head has been designed specifically for the RSM-2000. The first prototype of the component is currently undergoing certification.
