Belarus: A memorandum on cooperation between the Russian track machine builder and the Belarusian Railway envisages such a move.
As the publication of the group says, “the parties are willing to continue negotiations on the possible involvement of PTK’s subsidiaries in projects for the repair and maintenance of the Belarusian Railway’s infrastructure”. No further details have been given.
This August, PTK Group announced that purchase of the SchOM-2000 ballast cleaning machine (pictured) for the Belarusian operator was under consideration and that cooperation with the country could include the Molodechno Metal Structures Plant, Slutsk Lifting-and-Conveying Machines Plant and Bobruiskagromash. This cooperation has the potential to lead to the localisation of production, as PTK Group points out.
In September, the Belarusian government said that the country was working with Russia to start SKD assembly of multiple units. Subsequently, the Belarusian Railway and TMH signed a memorandum on cooperation, but no further steps towards localisation have been announced.
