Recent deals and tenders in the track machine market.
Slovenia — Italian firm Tesmec Rail has signed two contracts worth €71 mln with the infrastructure manager SŽ-Infrastruktura for 21 track machines. Deliveries are due over 4.5 years. One deal covers 15 units for infrastructure maintenance; the second six for OCS installation and upkeep, including a hybrid machine equipped with batteries.

UK — Loram has completed trials of Britain’s first ETCS Level 2-equipped track machine. The RGC rail grinder enters service in April on Network Rail’s 632 km East Coast Main Line as part of its plan to scrap most lineside signals. Built at Loram’s US and UK plants with Hitachi Rail-supplied ETCS-2 integration.
Germany — Spitzke, the infrastructure contractor, has ordered 10 track machines from Plasser & Theurer. The five MFS 120 SC ballast cleaners and two MTW 100.216 units for OCS installation and maintenance are joined by a USP 2010 SWS ballast profiler, RM900 ballast cleaning machine, and Unimat 09-4×4/4S Dynamic continuous-action tamping machine.

Morocco and Germany — Italian SRT equipment is gaining ground in both countries. The Colmar SL230D shunting module for combined road-rail operation has entered service at a mining facility in Morocco’s Safi. National operator ONCF has ordered a total of 10 such modules from the Italian firm. The Colmar SL230D, with 440 kW power and 230 kN tractive effort, can haul trains weighing up to 4,600 t. Meanwhile, German infrastructure manager DB InfraGO has approved SRT’s self-propelled Dynamic Hopper System (DHS) wagons for its entire network. These units for bulk materials transport can operate in consists of 2–12 wagons.

Russia — St Petersburg Metro has tendered for five shunting railcars at RUB 239 mln ($2.9 mln) inc. VAT. Deliveries run September 2026 to April 2027. Specifications call for hydro-mechanical transmission, 0-2-0 wheel arrangement, 60 km/h design speed, 60 m curve negotiation, and six-person cab. Bids close 7 April. Past supplier RoElProm failed to deliver three units due to sanctions.
