Russia: The four-axle PMSU-01 is designed on the base of the company’s EDK-25 railway crane. The jib of the crane has been replaced with a snow brush.

The PMSU-01 is reported to remove the snow cover 0.3 m high and 3 m wide at an operational speed of 6.4 km/h. With the revolving frame’s capacity to rotate 360°, the brush can also rotate 180° around the vertical axis, making it possible for the machine to clean both the track it is on, and the parallel tracks.

The vehicle’s propulsion system consists of a diesel generator set on the base of the YaMZ-238 diesel engine and 150 kW generator. The PMSU-01 is equipped with two reduction drives which provide self-propelled operation in both directions. The service life of the track machine is 25 years.

As Vladimir Kantor, the plant’s owner, has told ROLLINGSTOCK, the snow clearing machine has been already delivered to the customer, a metallurgical factory which ordered the vehicle. Still, it is not planned to certify the PMSU-01 for its use on public railway tracks.
