Norway: Since autumn 2024, Austrian metrology company PJM has been conducting trials of the vehicle on Norway’s rail network, including the Flåm Railway with gradients up to 55‰.
The Schmidt Beilhack HB 1100S snow blower has been verified for compliance with European TSI and EN standards, as well as NNTR-NOR regulations.
The four-axle rotary vehicle, weighing 80 t and delivering 1,470 kW of power, can clear up to 10,000 t of snow per hour. Testing has included measurements of noise level during operation and braking distance under various weather conditions.

Norwegian infrastructure operator Bane NOR has ordered two snow blowers from Swiss Aebi Schmidt. The first unit is scheduled to enter service in the coming months, while assembly of the second is being completed at the Beilhack plant in St. Blasien, Germany.
Beilhack was acquired by Aebi in 2005. The German plant has manufactured rail-mounted, wheeled and hybrid road-rail snow removing equipment since 1927.
