Russia: United Wagon Company made several announcements during the TransRussia international trade fair on April 15-17.
Russia: TR EAEU 001/2011 certification for mass production of these cars was obtained in February and March. The manufacturer claims a number of improvements in technical characteristics regarding the 19-1244 hopper of the previous generation.
US: Operators are advised by USDOT to speed up the purchase or refurbishment of tank cars for the transportation of Class 3 flammable liquids to DOT-117/DOT-117R safety standards. Approximately 8% of the tank fleet in North America may require renewal.
France: The American manufacturer has launched the MONITOR project. It implies fitting freight cars with sensors to monitor the condition of the braking system and bogies as well as to provide radio communication between cars.
India: This sum is allocated in the national budget for April 2023 – March 2024 while the whole budget line for the development of the railway sector totals INR 2.4 tln ($29.3 bln).
USA: This year the RailPulse joint venture is preparing to bring a telemetry platform to the market, providing real-time visibility of location, health, etc of the railcar.
Kazakhstan: Prime minister Alihan Smaiylov introduced plans for the delivery of locomotives, passenger, and freight cars for the fleet of the national operator and its subsidiaries.
Russia: Remputmash, a Kaluga-based company of STM, received approval under TR EAEU 001/2011. According to Viktor Voronovich, CEO of the Federal Freight company, FFC considers purchasing 720 container flatcars.
Russia: The company is working on the certification of a bogie for a 25-t axle load. R&D is also underway in the direction of telematics and a pre-design study of a two-axle bogie for 140 km/h railcars is being carried out.
