RITES, the export arm of national operator Indian Railways, has announced the opening of a branch in South Africa. The move follows a preliminary agreement with the company Volantis to supply 10 mainline diesel locomotives for $35.8 mln.
South Africa: The decision follows contracts secured this spring for 2,235 freight wagons and 30 diesel locomotives. The rolling stock, worth $430 mln, is destined for local freight operators.
