USA: Local newspaper Deseret News has published an extensive feature on the US site, which has been operating since 2019. Reporters were shown the workshops of the plant, which employs almost 750 people and occupies more than 46,500 m² in the state of Utah.
The plant’s production cycle covers bogie assembly, welding of aluminium carbodies and their subsequent painting, installation of electrical wiring harnesses, and final interior fit-out. The feature centred on the site’s main order — 127 CQ400 EMUs for Atlanta. Other contracts of the plant include battery-electric trains for Chicago and hydrogen trains for California, metro trains for Los Angeles, and tram-trains for Salt Lake City.

Previously, carbodies were shipped from Europe and only the interiors and electronics were installed in Utah. Now, following the launch of welding production last autumn, the carbodies are manufactured and fully equipped on site. The creation of a component machining section is being studied, which, according to plant management, may require additional space.
Stadler is currently expanding its production capacity in Salt Lake City. According to its financial reporting, in 2025 the Americas market across all areas generated 6.6% of the Swiss company’s revenue (against 4.6% in 2024).
