Russia: Such a position was mentioned by CEO of TMH Kirill Lipa during the Gaidar Forum, which took place on January 13-14. The discussion on international cooperation and exports was also attended by Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov and Chairman of the relevant committee of the State Duma Vladimir Gutenev.

Kirill Lipa said that TMH sees a very large and multifaceted dependence in terms of computer-aided design (CAD) systems from foreign IT solution providers. “We have such a concept as the design composition of a product, and the key question is in what system is it stored? If at some moment this system stops working, you stop releasing. Also, this engineering bill of material must be integrated into the organization of production planning. This is the second problem, because if the integration function stops working, then you also stop producing products. The third is everything related to the product life cycle, service planning, predictive analytics. If this stops working, then your equipment stops being used”, the head of TMH has pointed out.

TMH’s CEO noted that in terms of scale, the project for creating domestic competencies in terms of CAD should have a national status. The manufacturer itself works with various suppliers of IT solutions and software, including trying to work with suppliers from Russia and Belarus, where a good experience has been preserved since Soviet times. “We try to make sure that there is no dependence on one company”, Kirill Lipa said.

He also pointed out the prospects for the development of national competencies in terms of 1D design, since this market is only being filled up with fully-featured solutions. “This is essentially a mathematical model that fully describes the existence and functioning of any industrial object. <…> It is possible to get away from some GOST requirements and standards for the statistics that we receive today from operation. <…> As soon as you get very accurate and up-to-date statistics, then if you have a high-quality mathematical design model, you get almost flawlessly working equipment, save time on design, testing and on launching into manufacture”, said the head of TMH. According to Kirill Lipa, today there is a chance to focus on the Russian manufacturers efforts from various fields of engineering in order to realize the potential in this direction.
