India: The INNOPROM series of large-scale industrial exhibitions continues to expand its footprint. Having already visited Riyadh, Tashkent and Minsk, one of the sector’s biggest event brands arrives in New Delhi on 9–11 September. INNOPROM.

India takes place on the eve of the 18th BRICS summit and promises a packed international business agenda. Preparations are being covered on INNOPROM’s official LinkedIn page, and registration for visitors has now opened.

The exhibition will cover 10,000 m² and bring together modern technological solutions from across industry and engineering.

TMH is the exhibition’s sector partner. Russia’s largest rolling stock manufacturer, and one of the biggest in the world, TMH is providing strategic technological support for a contract with Indian Railways to build 120 electric trains, comprising 1,920 coaches in total, and maintain them for 35 years. Kinet Railway Solutions, the Russian-Indian joint venture behind the project, has already built a modern production site in Latur and is preparing to roll out its first 16-car prototype. TMH’s role spans engineering, production set-up, design and training the engineers who will keep the programme running.

As ROLLINGSTOCK has reported before, India’s sheer scale draws every major player in railway engineering to its market. At the same time, India is turning the expertise it gains from technology transfer into export capacity of its own. Indian manufacturers already ship passenger coaches and locomotives abroad, are developing an export version of their multiple-unit trains, have begun selling railway wheels into the EU, and are buying up major component manufacturers worldwide. India’s own high-speed and hydrogen train programmes add to that picture.

The Indian side of the exhibition is curated by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), with major mining, metallurgy and energy companies already signed up, sectors likely to take an interest in the rail industry’s innovations.
